What should I do if...

I know well in advance, that for a valid reason, I am going to miss a lab session?

I know well in advance that I am going to be away on the day when my lab report is due for submission?

It's immediately prior to (i.e. that day or the day before) my lab session and I realise that I am not going to be able to attend?

I have missed a lab session and have not yet informed the relevant parties of the reason for my absence?

I have missed (or will miss) a submission deadline due to an absence/illness between performing the practical and the deadline?

• Submit the report at the earliest opportunity.
• Download, complete and return to the Lab Manager (within a week after submission) a Laboratory Absence Form. On receipt of the completed Laboratory Absence Form, an extension to the report submission deadline will be applied (equivalent to the period of absence). However if your report is/was submitted beyond the extended deadline then marks will be deducted based on its lateness beyond the extension.
• Note: Reports that are submitted late (and are not covered by a Laboratory Absence Form) will have a deduction in marks applied, with the size of the reduction rising in proportion to the time beyond the submission deadline. Reports more than five working days late (and not covered by a Laboratory Absence Form) will not be accepted (i.e. will receive a mark of zero).
